Guy Says:

At 46 years old I started to lose clarity with distants, so I went to Lasik MD in London ont. they recommended that I only do the right eye, so in 2008 I had the right eye done. This certainly made a difference and so for 3 years all was well. Made my yearly visits. Last year it was suggested that I have an enhancment and they showed how much better I would see. I let them do the enhancement, no charge to me included in the extented warranty program. A week later I complain about seeing double, I was asked to come 3 times in one week, even asked their specilist from Toronto to see me. Finally they told me this happens to 1 in every 1000 patients. As off today Jan 31st, 2012 I have new prescription glasses because of the condition of my eyes. This is and was the biggest mistake I have made about my health. I understand that I agreed and I am not crying over spilled milk. But buyer beware, they sing a great song but failed to produce the results.. The anxiety that this situation causes is real and changes you and the life you live. Be very careful with your eyes

I just went for a consultation to Laskim MD in Toronto (the vaughan Mills location) and my experience was pretty bad. First of, they are dishonest about their prices. At the time that I was booking the consultation, their advertisements stated that prices range from $490 per eye to $1190 an eye. I was however quoted over $4000 for the procedure! I was quite upset that they would advertise a false ceiling price when in fact the procedure could cost much more.

The girl who spoke to me about prices told me that at least I got to have this free consultation whereas everyone else in Toronto charge $200 for the consutlation. Well, that too was a lie as I did some reserch today and all the other clinics in Toronto similarly offer free consultations.

Further, I found that at the clinic everyone were very young, unprofessional and inexperienced. I spend two hours having all sorts of eye tests performed by a very young and clearly inexperienced girl who at the end told me that she is not certain whether I am a candidate and requested that I return in a week for a second consultation with someone else.

Lastly, I found their staff to be somewhat rude and unfriendly. Overall I really did not have a positive experience at the centre. I will most certaintly not be booking my procedure with them.

I had this done in August 2008 for the first 2 weeks it was the best thing I spent my money on then it started. Started having trouble seeing clear and could not see clear at night I went back and they told me that I regressed they then re did my right eye and told me that I now had momo vision close in 1 eye far in the other this has been the toughest 3 years of my life. prior to the procedure I was a
-6.75 and now I need to wear glasses which are a 2.75 even with the glasses I have problems driving at night. Im sure it is a money scheme they love to screw with peoples vision.

If you're thinking about it and have not done it yet DON'T! I paid over 4000$ and 8 months later I still cannot see clearly, am BARELY legally able to drive and on Friday the surgeon told me I need glasses again! All this after 4000$, 4 surgeries and 8 months - they cannot fix my eyes! Don't do it - your vision may wind up worse than before and you'll be out money.

The simple fact of the matter is that LasikMD and other Lasik docs are harming people through this procedure. Lasik has left me with pain at all waking moments and had deeply effected all aspects of my life negatively. Is it ok for a doc to perform this procedure when he knows a significant number of his patients will have similar outcomes to mine - 1-5% possibly more?

Everybody has some type of side effect from lasik no matter how small - some complain of dry eyes and night vision problems but say that they would get the procedure again. Lasik is not close to be being perfect and not nearly as safe as contacts or glasses.

So far, my experience with LasikMD is fine (one year).

Contrary to DOUG, for me, they told me about the 5 years cover. Then, they CLEARLY mentioned that after that, it is MY responsibility to make appointment once a year which I will have to pay (similar to regular check up) and if I don't... well the lifetime guarantee will be null. I think that 5 years fallow-up it pretty good. When I was wearing glasses, I had to pay for my glasses and for my check-up.

I do think that I didn't take the same plan as Doug though... (mine cost 3500$ and I didn't have to pay extra for lifetime) But they mentionned to me that other plan I will have to pay extra fees for the additonnal covering and then have to pay after 5 years...

Be cautions when you read comments here because habitually, satisfied customer don't make comment so it can be Biais for unhappy people which represent less then 5% and that doesn't mean 5% of failure just 5% of people that are unhappy for sometime good sometime bad reason

I didn't have a bad experiance with Lasik MD as my eyesight is now 20/15. I use standard store bought reading glasses (1.25) for up close work but don't need them for the PC. However...

Lets tlak 'lifetime' insurance shall we. At no time was I aware that the extra $250 per eye insurance fee that I paid would only cover 5 years of 'mandatory' eye check ups to maintain this 'lifetime' coverage in case I need a 'touch up' proceedure. Guess what? I am now into the sixth year after I had the treatment and NOW they want $90 per check up EVERY year thereafter! Think about this for a moment? Within a 10 year period I will have given them $900 bucks (no garantee the rate won't go up in the future) to maintain this promise of any needed 'touch up's'. At NO TIME do they tell you this fact - that you get 'free' check ups for only five years. They go on and on about the 'lifetime' part of the fees but don't bother to tell anyone your going to be paying $90 bucks PLUS HST EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER.

The results are so far so good for me after 6 years - but please be aware of the eye check up after 5 years insurance scam. Had I known this I would have just put the near $100 bucks in a savings account and risked it.

After waiting for more than an hour and half to see the doctor so I can do my last follow up and get my prescription for reading glasses on April 1, 2011, only to find out from the doctor who insisted that I had to paid for this eye examination to have my check up. Even though the technician who checked my eyes an hour and half ago, told me that next year I need to pay for this service. I guess my time does not worth a cent!!!

I had commented earlier about my bad experience with Lasik MD. I ended up having my laser eye surgery done at Image Plus in Winnipeg. I could not have had a better experience. One of the best parts about it was the fact that they do two, not just one, consult before surgery. The second consult is actually done with the eye surgeon himself. On top of that, they had me come in 20 mins early for my surgery so they can triple check my prescription before heading into the OR.

It was a great experience. I highly recommend Image Plus.
