I’m not a criminal! Why Rogers Sucks. Where to begin…
Rogers is a Canadian company that provides television and cell phone service in Canada. Because of the liberal Canadian laws and the stiff capitalist competition allowed, they are one of only two companies in Toronto to offer television service and one of the four that offer cell phone service. No wait. Rogers now owns Fido so they can stand on the podium of three. Wow! Talk about consumer choice.
Where to begin with Rogers? Over the past few years they have done more to irritate me as a consumer than any other company I’ve been forced to deal with. Should I start with their shoddy internet service which is guaranteed (not in writing) to go down at least once a month? Or maybe their wireless phone service and their inability to register my address change after sending out a bill to my new address and then cancelling my service? Or how about their cable tv offerings of “digital” channels which are for the most part analog?
No. That would take a month to write about. Instead, let’s talk about the Rogers store at Yonge and Sheppard.
I just moved into a condo near Yonge and Sheppard in Toronto. The “maintenance” fees include basic cable service. So, I thought I’d go down to the Rogers store and ask about getting some of those digital channels they’re always talking about. I walk into the store:
Three people in succession speak to me.
Them: “Hello.”
Me: “Hi.”
Them: “Hello.”
Me: “Hi.”
Them: “Hello.”
Me: “Hi.”
Okay. So everyone behind the counter says hello. Strange. Usually they’re just rude. This is a change…
I should at this point mention that I have a backpack on. I proceed to make my way to the service counter where they deal with the cable services and inquiries. The counter is maybe 4.5 meters (15 feet) from the front barrage of hellos.
Just as I turn away from my last “Hi”:
Them: “Ummm… I’m sorry but… Can I ask you to leave your bag at the counter?”
Me: “I’m just going over there to talk to them. I promise not to steal anything.”
I point to the counter within plain view of the front desk.
Them: “I know but it’s a policy.” (Delivered with a contrived smile which pretty much turned my stomach at this point.)
Perhaps I should explain my incense. This location just opened up a few weeks ago. It’s not like they have had a long history of people stealing chocolate bars. Everything else has a magnetic strip inside the case after all so I can’t really see the great economic harm they fear.
No, this is just a company deciding that even though I’m there to offer them my hard earned money, I’m a criminal above all else. I can’t even feign racial discrimination as I’m not a minority. But my wife is so maybe they thought she’d be doing the stealing and shoving it into my standard issue shoplifter backpack.
I can’t figure out any excuse for them other than stupid policy decisions carried out by trained monkeys. Chimps who can’t connect the fact that the money I was there to offer to their company goes straight to their minimum wage paycheques. But I guess me leaving my bag behind the counter is more important than running their business.
I wouldn’t have minded so much really, but leaving my bag there would have meant taking out my personal belongings, wallet and phone and so on, and then carrying them around for no reason.
To finish my story:
Me: “No! I don’t want to leave you my bag.”
I then proceeded to vote with my wallet and walk out of the store muttering some kind of profanity. The previously “Hello” shrieking chimps huffing offensively at my behaviour. (Yes. I was in a bit of a bad mood as well.)
What happened to customer service? What happened to human intelligence and personal freedoms? When did people become such sheep? How is it okay for a corporation to request your personal property or not offer you service?

Rogers sent my bill to the wrong apt after correcting them 3 times over the phone.(This wasn’t a change of address, it was a new account) And then when they called me asking for their 280 dollars they tried tacking on late fees as well as a “fee” for my account going into collections. When I told them I wasn’t paying these fees because I had corrected my adress on previous occassions they kept me on the phone while they talked to someone “higher up”. They told me that this time they would waive the fees but if it happened again I would have to pay them. I told them that It wasn’t my fault and that I would never pay for late charges due to an internal screw up by a corporation. Click.
Since when is it my job to hunt these companies down for my bills. If they are so hard up for a couple hundred dollars then where did they get the money to buy the Skydome.
P.S.
It will always be the Sky Dome to me!!!!!

Hi, Thanks for posting.
I know exactly what you mean about the “threat”. I got the same comment after they accused me of ignoring my bill when they themselves changed my address back to the old one. Next time blah blah blah. Thanks Rogers but there won’t be a next time. I moved my service the following week and have never gone back.

After being on a FIDO, now Roger’s, plan for over a year, paying my bill’s in full every month, they have cut off my service for non-payment on a bill I have yet to receive. I’m on the $ 25.00 plan, which actually costs $ 45.00, and apparently I owe $ 50.00 and change, I don’t knw the amount because I haven’t received the bill yet. But I have no service. Not a happy camper

You’ll all love this one!
I’m moving and scheduled to have my 2nd line disconnected for July 25th. This is my business line and is quite active during the work week. Rogers disconnects it 20 days early leaving me without a business line. When I contact them they indicated it would take approximately 15 days to restore the connection… WTF…
Not only did they make the mistake but they were sure to remind me that I have a balance outstanding…
Customer service at its best!

IT IS REALLY FUNNY HOW THEY WANT YOU TO TRUST THEM WITH YOUR GOODS AND THEY WONT DO THE SAME.

Are there any groups of Canadians who are trying to fight the lies of Rogers? I can not believe they are allowed to lie and take people’s money….
They lie over and over to you. I was told when I got my first two cell phones that they were on special and I would only pay 47 dollars per month… the one price for two phones.. Great! I asked the guy over and over and he said, “Yes, you pay the one price and you get two phones….” Well, when the bills came in, I was paying over 80 someodd dollars per month…. I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt and figured he just made a mistake… The 80 someodd dollars per month as a bit much, but what the heck……. Then, a year later into my three year contract with Rogers, I decided that I needed two more phones for my kids. The girl told me it would be a total, for the four phones, of 120 dollars per month and that we would get 400 minutes that could be used on one phone if we liked or 100 per phone….. and that all calls from one cell phone to another, were free…. Well, guess what???? Yep, you guessed it, the phone bill is really 160 dollars per month and we only get 100 minutes for the whole four phones….
Yep, I will tell as many people as I can how much ROGERS SUCKS and when I get out of this contract I will have nothing to do with Rogers again…..
So, if you know any groups who are taking legal action against Rogers, let me know, I would love to join them.

I’m actually a Rogers employee. I happened across your site while googling “rogers sucks”. It’s been a horrid work week.
First of all, you’re right. Rogers is terrible. Horrible even. I loathe my job, and like most employees, am only there for the money, which is actually decent.
I personally never lie to a customer, I tell them how it is, like it or not. Despite the morons in upper management breathing down my neck, I will give up a sale to make sure someone knows what they are getting into.
One thing I’ve noticed about many postings online about Rogers are the references to the morons at customer service. I’d like to just note, yes, some newbs ARE stupid, I make them cry frequently, but don’t blame us. As we speak to you, we are being recorded and graded on what we do for and say to you. Most variations from company policy get us on some sort of stupid warning or sometimes even fired.
We take the brunt for everything, that IS our job, but sometimes a little TLC never hurt anyone.
Hints…want something from Rogers? Don’t bitch to us at customer service, we can’t do much at all, ask to cancel, you shall then be transefered to “Customer Relations” or as we call it Saves. They “save” you, you get what you want.
Don’t yell and scream, we’re vendictive SOB’s at customer service, you scream? You get squat, be nice, we shall give you what you want. I’ll be honest, if I have someone screaming at me? Screw them. I don’t get paid to have someone cursing me out, I’ll just hang up on you.
One last word…Telus

I was using other wiresless service. I do travel international everymonth for my business to various countries across the globe. My friend suggested me to go for GPRS ,which could be useful. My friend took me to rogers stores at square one and explained me few models. I settled for Trio , paid 568 $ on the spot for the phone by cc. They were missing some of the accessories like pouch, wire etc, which they said I can pick up later within 2-3 days. However my phone was activated with some funny plan. After few days I went to pick up the accessories, but same girl was not available , so I was refused of that opportunity. This happend for nearly three trips till today i did not get any accessories promised and printed on the invoice.
2nd cycle:
——-
I proceeded for my overseas trip, starting with Korea, GPRS did not work, I called customer service from Korea, they said they do not include Japan and korea. Something the sales staff could have told me , as I was discussing with her that I go often to japan and korea and i need this service only for my travlling reasons.
2. Then I proceeded to China, GPRS did not work most of time, the data download meter would show downloading but nothing would appear on screen, All that assistance which I could have expected went into deep troubled water, Luckily after checking with various networks avaialble, few instaces it worked .Out of mutiple attempts, few were succedful to download emails in only one inbox, out of 4 I made setup.
after 10 days, i proceeded to next countries Hongkong and India, i had similar fate, Many places even the basis phone did not work, because they had no arrangement with local networks, I was phoneless even in bigger cities, leave apart GPRS.
cycle 3:
After all these trouble I came back to canada after one month trip to see that a bill is greeting me with a bill of 2500 $ GPRS charges which I disputed and they offered me 50% discount. Then I warned them that i will take off this connection, then they waived all GPRS charges alone.
cycle 4:
after all these trouble i was relaxed , then another bill comes with 1000$ and 615 $ for 10 days usage of last few days overseas of the biling cycle which was not completed in last bills. This time inspite of calling them many times they did not wish to waive the amount being part of same bad GPRS cycle during my overseas trip . they said we would waive only one billing cycle.
My laptop with wi-fi worked all over workd with just 25 $ service a month, which was my life line, but this garbage rogers service screwed me everywhere.
On various complaints and my warning with legal and media action, they finally asked me to pay 228$ for closure, which I paid, but still their bills are coming with huge amounts.
I do not know how to get rid of these a$$holes, who threaten me with collection agency etc.
cycle 4 : Then I called again to talk to supervisor , who told me that you have nothing to pay, just ignore bills.
cycle 5:
Now I am holding a piece of garbage crap hardware which costed me 568$, plus first month bill and 229$ closure fee. I spend almost 1000 $ for nothing.
cycle 6; I epxlained rogers the unlocked hardware cost 250 $ all over world in any international retail shops, they it is better they refund me excess amount, which they do not want to do. I am fighting a battle with them to recover the excess of that faulty hardware , (they refunse to take it back because it is more than 1 month period to return), if not full, I am also fighting to recover 228 $ closure fee, which was not my choice but their poor network GPRS service which forced me to cancel the subscription. In all rogers screwed me for 1000 $( rest 3500 $ bill waived which were real bogus and hiked)
ROGERS REALLY SUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKS.

Based on your story, I’d have to say that the Rogers Video policy is that the customer is always to be suspected of criminal tendencies and is guilty until proved innocent.
March 9th, 2007 at 12:11 am
I bought a Star Wars DVD last summer at Rogers Video and opened it at Rogers, to make sure it was in perfect condition. Sure enough, there was a flaw, and I thought at least I opened it at the store so I was safe, but Rogers said it was “used.”
USED?! I didn’t even get to play it once!
I asked them to let me see the security video, but they said I couldn’t. “Couldn’t?” You mean you WOULD not, let me, not that I could not. Idiots! They said the tape was proprietary of Rogers…..!
These people are nazis. And to the other guy, if a customer is screaming at you, TAKE IT, because it’s your job to take it, and that goes for any comnpany.
It…just happens more often with Rogers because they are insane creeps, that’s all.

Hey there guys, sounds like all of you had bad experiences within Rogers Retail at store level. Sorry to read about such infringments, thats just awful. However, even though I totally agree with anyone for whom recieves slow or poor customer service, I do believe that the Rogers Store at the location specified is not a Rogers unit, but though might very well be – there has been a lot of business migration of ownership between retail groups in the last few months. Moreover, what I am trying to distinguish is many communication carriers have non-corporate operated stores. My knowledge of Rogers Cable Communications goes back a long time, and I have never heard of a bag policy, I assure they are more advanced than such. For outstanding service just go straight to any Rogers Plus, or Rogers Video Retailer. I kindly advise anyone not to go those Rogers, Bell, or even telus stores that bare our famous retail giants name, but really they cannot not do much. These places are called authorized dealers, such as The Source by Circuit City..Wireless Wave, or here’s one – Uptown Communications. This is the problem most consumers have today, Wireless Communication Carriers allowing small stores with half trained staff to sponser there products and services. Sorry this msg has continued to long, but I assure you, the “please left your bag” thing, must of been from one of these non Rogers Retail stores just trying to represent the name Rogers. Certified Rogers, or Telus, Bell Reps, would not leave you alone I assure you…SHARKS ON THE FLOOR !
And why is it when someone has a problem with there service provider, the first thing they want to do is stop there service and threaten to evade. When it comes to billing related issues, individuals are always going to find fault with some company sooner or later. If a individual can’t handle or manage their expences approprietly, then they should think before they agree with anyting. Especially the parents who buy celluar phones for the children who are like early teens and will probally destroy, or loose there phones at an unpredictable point in time, even though it does provide somewhat saftey reassurance over them.
Read: Let Rogers be your first choice. Communication seems a lot better and stable, plus I enjoy how they heavliy compete in the market. Rogers endeavors to bringing the latest in technology to the consumer frontline. Its a fact that Rogers dominates accordingly when it comes to being competitive.

“And why is it when someone has a problem with there service provider, the first thing they want to do is stop there service and threaten to evade.”
Because the only power a consumer has is where he puts his money. If being treated poorly and unfairly is not reason enough to switch to a competing service, you either like taking it up the ass from the company or you are lazy. A person’s right to take their money and move it is the only recourse left in today’s society where the courts are a joke and companies are free to play with people’s credit ratings.
Example. Rogers does not send me a bill. They say I never paid it. I say I never got a bill to pay because I didn’t and actually stopped my service with them 6 months before. They put the bill into receivership. My credit rating is screwed. I go to buy a house and get rejected by the bank because of a bill I never got and was unaware of.
You can find hundreds of similar situations to that. So moving services is a positive action on the act of the consumer. The only problem in Canada is that most of the services are monopolies which makes the action somewhat meaningless.
Hope that answers your question.

I am sorry but it is just reasonable to ask to leave your bag at the front desk. They are required to do so and if you can’t do that. well you have a serious problem.
The main problem is that you dont read your terms of service and assume companies owe you something, you dont read your bills but we have to explain it to you morons. Sorry people, Rogers ain’t the problem, you are !

First let me say that I have not been a Rogers customer since 2001. Bell Expressvu and Bell phone provide far superior service. I did a credit check with Equifax recently and found that Rogers had filed a collection report on me in December 2006. This was very interesting since I have not been a Rogers customer for over 6 years. After calling the collection agency in the report I found that someone with the same name was the reason for the report. The person Rogers was after was over 23 years younger than me. I called Rogers to try to fix the problem and got passed around to various departments. They said they couldn’t fix their filing since I didn’t have an account number with them. Duh. I’m now dealing directly with Equifax to get the problem fixed since Rogers refused to do anything about the problem they created. This was not the first time that Rogers had confused me with someone else. When I was living in Brampton, someone in Etobicoke with my same name moved and I arrived home one day to find that they had disconnected my cable. It took months to straighten out the problem since they kept trying to charge me for a disconnect and reconnect at the same address. Rogers is the worst company in Canada. I received a call today from Rogers asking me to subscribe to Rogers phone. When I told the person what I thought of Rogers, he hung up on me. Never get involved with Rogers unless you want high prices and lousy service.

Thanks for your opinion YouSu*l. Too bad you’re too much of a coward to post with a real e-mail address. I guess we’ll just have to view your opinion as useless as it actually is.
I left it in there even though we usually delete fake e-mail comments.

I keep I runing file on rogers. Here are some highlights.I have logged over 24 hours of phone time in the last year and refuse to tell anyone three times in the same phone call my date of birth, my postal code, and phone number…… so they cna fix what they have screwed up. If I return their calls they want this personal info repeated at each stage. if they ever call me I now insist they tell me their postal code, their phone number at home, and their date of birth then and only then will I converse with them about their reprehensible ‘service’. So far I have paid for a fully warrantied phone that lost screen view $50.00. My son lost his phone earlier this year and was due for a full upgrade anyway so when I requested that they said since I was honest and said it was lost it woud cost 175.00. I remain sentenced to Rogers due to my stupidity in signing a three year plan. It is a sentence I must serve but once my time is served I will never make that error again. They lost my internet connection this year that I had through my built in data ports after a rogers worker came to the house to repair the cable service which boots me out of the system if I ever try to rent a movie. Easy fix I never rent from Rogers and no longer use their internet service 5% saving on a bundle service versus sanity chose the later. They recently were 2 months late in repairing a phone with a full warranty but they called three times to date for a bill payment due Dec 27th and it is now Jan 5, so sorry I was away for the week Rogers I do hope they were not inconvenienced. They told me my phone was on route last year after the loss and I waited prior to leaving for Europe and after two hours of calls and requests for everything but my birth weight they said well that phone was never going to be sent because you did not have a new plan. Correct, I had the three year plan to serve and still had two years of my sentence to serve, this was to replace the lost phone at a cost of 175.00 to me. So they explained there was no phone coming obviosly they lied and I had to travel with no phone. I have had them tell me my cable service and internet going out is because of hydro going out during a storm so I need to speak to Hydro so the power will no longer go out during storms. Clearly Rogers is a corporate nigthmare but if there is ever a class action suit please count me in.

Ever been accused of stealing or been caught stealing in a Rogers store? Let me know, trying to put some info together and write to them complaining of bad treatment.
March 24th, 2008 at 4:43 am
Seriously guys. Working from a video store, we have ZERO pull for customers.. I spent 3 hours trying to sort out a bill with a customer through the my DIG line.
You got to keep your bag at the front because of policy. You wouldn’t believe how many thefts we video store employees see on a regular basis and how many times i’ve been pushed, and robbed by someone trying to grab some 10 dollar movie. *rolls eyes*
A majority of stores make you leave bags at the front. get over it.
I won’t go to defend rogers wireless or whatever, because even as an employee dealing with customers i get treated like crap. So pro-tip seriously don’t go to the video or plus stores for wireless/cable/internet concerns, we can’t do anything. :/

They don’t just suck, they actually swallow! I hate rogers. My rant here:

I recently cancelled my service with Rogers Cable. In April I contacted Rogers and said I was considering canceling their service and asked how to do so. The customer service rep first attempted to stop me from canceling saying I cannot accept NO for an answer. Then I was told if I was still determined to cancel my service, that it was always best to change services at the beginning of the month.
I contacted Rogers at the beginning of May and again a customer service rep. kept me on the phone for almost 20 minutes telling me not to cancel. Once I finally canceled the rep. told me that I would be charged an additional month of fees. This I refuse to pay since I contacted them in April to get this information.
Today, June 30th a Rogers representative contacted me from billing and told me that if I did not pay my dispute was being sent to a collection agency.
The client representative had a very hostile tone to her voice throughout. I said to her that I refused the charge and that only a court of law would end this dispute. She in turn said that it would go to a collection agency anyway and that they would charge interest on the account until it was settled.
Rogers has been completely underhanded in their dealings with me. They lied. They deferred. They harassed and they threatened.
Rogers lacks a dispute resolution with its clients. They use the threat of high interest charges from a collection agency, and threatened resulting damage to client credit ratings. I asked then if Rogers refuses to ask for a court decision on this matter, then I will have to sue Rogers to determine what is the opinion of the court. The representative refused to give me information on who to contact at Rogers to begin legal action and said all the judges in court support Rogers!!!!
Rogers has a monopoly on cable service in Ontario and deploy strong handed tactics on its clients to get and retain their accounts. Their strong handed tactics have set a new level for sleaze…even for Rogers This has to be in violation of the CRTC regulations for conduct.
ROGERS IS SCUM. Unfortunately most people read these site only after they have been screwed over by Rogers. They are complete dirtbags and I will NEVER ever have a service from those A-holes.
July 13th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
In January 2007 I called Rogers to cancel my internet service as I was moving. After getting that all set up, they told me that I could return the modem to any Rogers store.
So at the end of the month when I move, I take the modem back to a Rogers store, only to be somewhat shocked when they told me they wouldn’t accept it. They said they were not authorized to accept any modem returns. They told me I had to call Rogers to arrange a return of the modem.
I called them back and they said the store should have accepted it, but that they would set up a time where they would send someone to my place to pick up the modem. So the appointment was made, and of course they had a 6 hour window where they ‘could’ come so I had to stay home all that time, but nobody ever showed up.
I called Rogers again, and asked why nobody came, and they said they had no idea, but they would make another appointment to have someone sent to my place to pick it up. I confirmed with the person on the phone twice, all the details, date, time, phone number, etc so be absolutely certain there could be no problem. The day came, and of course nobody came, but this time, about 30 minutes before the end of their ‘window’ I called them back and told them nobody has came by yet, where were they?
I was told by the person at Rogers that there was never any appointment made, nor was there any note mentioned in my account about me ever even asking to have the modem picked up. I told them I had made 2 appointments, and the second one I had confirmed twice. They said I should just take it to a Rogers store to return it.
I told them the last time I did that it was refused – not because it was broken but because they wouldn’t accept modems. They gave me the address of a store they said would definitely accept a modem.
I took it to that store, correct address, and they told me they don’t take modems. They told me to take it to another Rogers store (gave me that address), and I went to that store and told them everything up to this point, and they said they wouldn’t ever take any modems back. They told me to call Rogers to arrange a pickup.
I called Rogers yet again! I told them everything up to this point, and they said they didn’t understand why the stores wouldn’t accept the return of the modem, but that they would arrange a pickup. I told them I’ve already had 2 appointments made, and both times nobody from Rogers ever came. They promised me someone would come, but this time I couldn’t waste another day so I gave them my work address and said to pick it up there, so I wouldn’t have to sit home all day. They said that was fine and confirmed the address with me.
At work that day, nobody from Rogers ever came or called me. I called them back yet again and told them this, and they said they didn’t know why nobody came, but there should be no problem as any Rogers store would have to accept returns of their equipment, and told me to take it to whichever Rogers store is closest to me. I did that, and when I got there of course the manager refused to accept it. When I asked for her name, and she saw me writing it down on a pad with other notes, she asked about it and I told her the story so far.
She told me to call Rogers there, using the stores phone, and I did that. I told the person on the other end what had happened so far, and told her I wouldn’t make another appointment to have it picked up, she told me that of course nobody ever came, nobody ever made any appointments to have my modem picked up, since Rogers doesn’t do that. She said the only way to return equipment was to bring it to a store, and she said she didn’t believe I had made any appointments to have it picked up since she admitted they just don’t do that sort of thing.
When I told her I was standing in a Rogers store right now and the manager is standing right beside me and is refusing to accept the return of the modem, the person on the phone tells me that its not her problem if the stores won’t take it back. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she REFUSED! I asked her why I couldn’t speak to her supervisor and she said “because I’ve already answered your question. I will not put you on with my supervisor”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and I told the manager of the store, standing right beside me, and though she looked somewhat sympathetic said she wouldn’t allow me to leave the modem there.
A few days later Rogers sent a bill for a couple hundred dollars, because I “failed to return their equipment”
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they contacted me a couple of weeks later telling me that Rogers was not even returning their calls.
I called Rogers to cancel my Cell phone, and of course they don’t like hearing you are cancelling anything. I told the person my whole story, and she said that she would have her supervisor call me back later that day to try to work that out. I told her, I honestly didn’t believe anything she was telling me and to be sure my phone gets cancelled immediately. She said she would but to just wait for the call from her supervisor as she said it would all be sorted out and I wouldn’t have to cancel my cell phone after that anyway.
I never received a phone call from her supervisor or her of course.
By this point, I had been lied to by virtually everyone at Rogers who I had talked to, they charged me for their own equipment that they refused to accept on several occasions, even after confirming and promising they would.
I wrote them a few emails, followed by two letters (snail mail) over the next 2 months, neither of which were answered.
I will never ever do business with Rogers again, and tell everyone I know exactly what they do to their customers. Because of this, I know at least a few potential customers that Rogers has lost and other companies have gained. If they had only treated me like a human being, instead of something they could steal money from, they wouldn’t have lost all of this potential business.
Why does the CRTC allow a company like this to continue to operate?

I am glad to see that i am not the only one getting irritated by Rogers. I always wanted people to know that rogers probably has the biggest monopoly in Canada. I’ve never seen prices so ****ing high for 50kb/s internet speed. They charge higher then a country where horses are still used instead of cars (Romania)In Romania you only pay $15 for 5mb/s. I dont get with all this money that rogers is making, that they still dont use fiber optic cable!!!
August 25th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
didnt think i was alone with thr crap rogers was doing
back in jan i got a call from rogers asking me switch my home phone to rogers dig something like 13.33/m for 12 months said ok but will my dsl internet still work on that…they said oh ya it will work and confermed it 3 times said ok lets do it
then the call was transferd to get confermed i asked the lady will my dsl internet still work on this service she said yes so i did it and when the tech guy showed up asked him if it would still work he told me dsl internet wooul still work…and well it never worked..
called rogers back told them the story and they flat out told me that dsl would only work on there analog phone but it would be another 3 weeks before some one could come out to change it back…waited 3 weeks no one came..phoned them asked where the tech guy was and they told me they cancelled and was changed to the folling week.said i waisted they whole day waiteing for them..why no phone call they could asnwer.
..asked to speek to a superviser they told me none wer there..what no superrvisers there .so i asked what it ifyou have a problem they told me they asked there superviser i asked to talk to them they told me they cant talk on the phone..so i slamed the phone down and hung up 5 min later a superviser called me back i told him the story and that i have to wait another week and thats its now been 3 weeks that i have no internet and was thinking about going back to bell with my phone and would bring my tv there as well..and that they would pay my reconection charge..they said ok wee will have some one there in 2 days and gave me a credit of $50 said ok thanks.
got my first bill and was double charged 2 phone lines but only have one and wasnt geting the offer i was offerd called they said they fixed it, but was the same for the next 4 months after 5 months it was fixed..thank god
then the cable was all messed you know pixels all over..called they ya its not working or the sigle inst that strong..i knew the problem was out side as i told them told that to the tch guy said no no its the box and the cable is fine..witch it wasnt. he switch the box and it was they same..he couldn figure it so i phone rogers and aske for another one to come and fix it.
the second guy came out found a stape in on e of the cables said here you problem took it out worked for a few days then crap again.
phoned rogers asked to speek to a superviser asked him if anyone at rogers knows what there doing had to techs here and still haveing problem..he told me EVERYONE AT ROGERS IS WELL QUALIFIED AND KNOWS WHAT THERE DOING..said im not even a tech and i know what the problem is the cable need to replaced and if the next tech cant do it im going back to bell it got fixed
now fido was with them for 5 years then roger bought them out missed a $20 bill they cut me off called them and said this is how i get treated after 5 years and at $20 no less Told them i knew people that owed $200 and they still have servise….they asked who is it…said thats not my job that yours.cancelld and went to bell
now i am so sick of the flyers im getting in the mail last week i got 3 and one today from rogers called and told them i sick of the flyer and they should do something about like puting that money towards ther servise.
That i was going to save them all and after a year i will bring them to them in a box with my bill inside marked on the box and the can deal with it
so i think everone should do that mabye the will get the picture
just my two cents

So I’ve got a plan with 100 mins, 60 texts, and UNLIMITED emails. All with a 1.5 mb intenret access fee. So I use it for a month, and then get to pay $20 fee for overusing the 1.5mb. I got wtf and apparently its unlimited emails as long as in total all my emails do not use up more then 1.5 mb. Now I’m pissed, but say ok, w.e.
Btw should I mention that there is no way I can ever check my bill or where I maxed out UNTIL I get the bill in my mail, unlikes Telus who actually gave me an option to check online.
So I say ok, but I only found out about this halfway through my second month. Earlier I tried** to send 12 mb of pics from my cell but it came back to me saying ‘error file’s too big.’ But apparently I still got charged for it.
In essence they have MANY hidden fees that make you want to vomit. I love my blackberry, but hate rogers. In 2-3 years Im definetely switching over back to Telus or Bell (prob telus).
December 25th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
i hate rogers , their plans suck and the service is very poor for the amount of money they make us pay for their chit ass plans i just got my cell phone and i already hate it , ROGERS SUCK!!!!!!
WHO AGGREES ?!
February 4th, 2009 at 4:55 am
Rogers is screwing with my cell. Apparently they would like me to buy my music form the ROGERS STORE. So what do they do, remove all my songs, then i guess they got scared and put em all back in. Now My adapter that i need to transfer songs will suddenly NO LONGER work. If I could prove its them I SUE THEIR DIRTY ASSES. ROGERS SUCKS SO BAD, a DISHONEST company and most inscure. The day theu go BANKRUPT will be a Great day.
March 2nd, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Nothing but lies and broken promises. Useless customer service, extras tacked onto almost every bill (that’s why they want you to subscribe to automatic withdrawl), bad reception, poor phone quality, and overall high prices. Sorry Rogers, you’ve lost another customer.
March 25th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
They gave me a random postal code even though I set it all up with them obviously to get the tech guy over it had to be a real address. Then they were sending bills to the wrong address… well actually no address because for some reason the postal code the gave was X1X1X1… now who is that stupid to get my postal code mixed up with something that is obviously not real. Nonetheless I had to call them to ask why I was not getting billed and it turned out that there were late payment charges and all that which was a fight to get it off because they said I should’ve called sooner…. I hate rogers, we need more providers

Guess who owns http://www.RogersSucks.com ?
Initially they redirected to their (rogers) main page until the genius woke up….

Hello world
Imagine on a Friday night you come home and start paying any bills you have. So you get to the rogers bill and you see a bill that says $615 and some change that’s what happened to me. Thats right $615. You might be wondering why its so high and you will never guess why but I’ll you why they were accusing me of stealing their rental digital cable box. I had to return that box a while back because I switched to basic cable and I did return the box, a rogers cable guy came to pick it up and I gave it to him and he took it in his van. Now rogers claims that they did an audit where they found that I had not returned that box but of course i did return it. So I filed three complains yet no credits to my account, so i call them again and this time I ask them to open up old records, so she does that and she finds that a cable guy came to my house but she said it did not indicate why he came, i told her he came to pick up the box, so she gave me a 50% credit after she spoke with her manager BTW this took a whole month the 50% credit. I said that the box at the time was only worth $99 so why have charged me $200 extra, they claim that it was $200, i called future shop, bestbuy, and finally i checked rogers.com and you what i found in all three places it was $99, i asked rogers to explain why, they could not explain so i ask to talk with the rogers tech guy she refused. so i gave up. and btw i only paid the amount i was suppose to in the $615 bill i only paid around $300 so in my next bill i get a late payment charge i call them again and they told me i already have a 50% credit towards the charge and that I have to pay the other half and late fees so i give up again but i did not pay the bill yet. so now i planned on calling them at night at 1 am to see if i get any positive results and what you know they refused again. so i decide to call for one last and if this didn’t work i would tell them to cancel but when i called fortunately their server was very slow, so i told him what had happened and he was also very frustrated because of how many people he had to deal with and the slow server, so he just gave me the full credit BTW it now had been two months since the $615 bill. but it didn’t end there they still had to credit the GSP/PST and late payment so i call again and this time they were being so nice to me for once and gave me all the credits i deserved. a few day later i get a letter saying that they apologize and gave me a $30 ESSO gift card.

This is great stuff !!! I just got off with Rogers and they now want to charge me 750 bucks for an Iphone because my piece of crap razor has water damage. I have a corporate account with my company an they tell me that if I cancel my phone and go with another provider they will charge my company 400 dollars for the balance of my contract. Talk about blackmail. Check the back of your phone and beside the sim card there is a little dot that turns red if you have water damage. I bet all of you have a red one because it is condensation that causes this BUT it gives them an out so they can charge you for a new phone. Three people beside me all had water damage on a day that was 95 degrees.I am going to let my account go dormant so they can only get the monthly fee with no call charges and go with either telus or bell at the end of the contract. They sure are a piece of work aren’t they. Can you imagine working there and getting crapped on all day for ROGERS idiotic policies. Canada needs to give us more option so we don’t need to put up with the GARBAGE that has become ROGERS!!!
August 4th, 2009 at 11:13 pm
STOP FUCKING BUYING THEM, MAYBE THEY WILL STOP BEING SO COCKY, THEY OWN THE TORONTO MARKET AND ACT AS IF WE NEED THEM MORE. REMEMBER PEOPLE, WE ARE THE CUSTOMER. CHOOSING FIDO IS STILL A LOT BETTER CHOICE. AT LEAST THE PEOPLE ON THE PHONE ARE FRIENDLIER, AND THEIR PLANS ARE NOT BAD. ROGERS MAKES LESS MONEY FROM THEIR FIDO BRANCH. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THESE NEW COMPANIES TO COME IN AND DESTROY THE CANADIAN OLIGOPOLY.
August 22nd, 2009 at 6:58 pm
I think it is time to do the following 3 things….
1. Launch a class action suite against Rogers on several grounds including running a monopoly and leveraging it to steal from Canadians (In the US, I had twice the amount of TV channels available to me at 65% less cost from the provider!! THAT is what competition really does…monopoly and Rogers are synonymous).
2. Lobby your Federal MP’s (telecommunications is of Federal jurisdiction) to have Rogers monopoly on the Cable infrastructure taken away (It sure worked with the phone system by providing Canadians with far better competitive prices and choice). Make sure to tell you MP that because of Rogers monopoly, you the voters are deprived of competitive price, choice in services and more importantly, you are being literally robed to death by Rogers.
3. Since Rogers makes Bell look good on all fronts, LEAVE ROGERS, Dont pay your invoice and take them to the small claims court. Ask your laywer to get an injuction/restraining order againt Rogers to stop them from ruining your credit while you await your day in court.
Anyone willing to take Rogers on in a class action suite, email me at mdudak10@hotmail.com the more names and stories we have, the easier it will be.
Take down those monkeys at Rogers and their highly incompetent service desk who can tell white from black and are the rudest I ever had to deal with, anywhere around the world!

High Speed, my ass. I’ve had it with the slow speeds and constant interruptions everytime I need to do something and it’s not as if I’m an bandwidth hog and deserve to have my priveleges throttled constantly. I’m canceling their their shoddy service. I don’t know why I hung in there for so long when the internet speed is anything but ‘high-speed’. Apparently, in other countries the Internet service is much faster. But when I called Rogers to complain about it, I was told the problem was with my computer and everything “checks out” on their end. But I had just had my Windows XP wiped, thinking it was infected with some virus, so how could this be? It probably wasn’t, it was just their shitty service getting in the way. I only hope I’ll have no trouble dropping the equipment off at the stor
November 13th, 2009 at 2:38 am
Hey what do they mean they can’t accept their own equipment back at their own outlets. As Jack Nicholson said in Five Easy Pieces, “Now I want you to hold it for me, hold it between your legs”.
November 22nd, 2009 at 2:27 am
First of all, maybe you guys should read the fine print before you sign a contract. Cancellation fees are nothing new.
As for your complaint about the bag incident in the store: it is not a Rogers policy to ask for bags at the counter. I checked with their head office. But, you ARE entering private property when you go into their stores so your “personal freedoms” will have to be put on hold.. If you come to my house and refuse to remove your muddy shoes you can bet your ass that I won’t let you in. I don’t care if you’re bringing me a $300 bottle of wine. If you don’t like it don’t shop there. Also, have you considered that they need to be fair and consistent with their no bags policy? They may not think you’re a thief, but it’s only fair.
Also, you have no idea what their business or labor model is like. How can you be so sure that your hard earned money will go right to their wages? That is a stupid assumption.
Finally, I had far more trouble with Bell than I ever had with Rogers. Every company has it’s share of disgruntled customers. If you made an effort to understand the terms of your commitments and stopped assuming that you know how they should run their business you might actually save yourself all the hassel.
November 22nd, 2009 at 2:13 pm
Wow you called the head office all the way from Vancouver (checked your IP) and asked about their policy for a store in Toronto? That’s some dedication to Rogers. You must be one employee that is actually getting paid well.
First of all, I’m sorry to see that you are so ignorant regarding cancelation policies as to criticize the other readers above. The norm in many other countries I’ve lived in is to not lock people down into contracts on regular phones. Even the pay as you go phones will roll over the minutes from month to month. (iPhone is an exception due to its cost of course so I can’t criticize Rogers for that.) I’m sure you’ve never left BC so it’s probably hard for you to have a basis of comparison. But thank you for your uninformed opinion.
Also, if you sign a contract and the vendor provides you shit service, shouldn’t it be your right to cancel that contract without a penalty?
Second, your analogy regarding your home is not appropriate. A place of business is an open invitation for people to come in and give them their money. It’s retail and you have an expectation of privacy when entering a store. Or maybe you feel that retailers should have the right to strip search you the next time you go in for a pair of shoes.
Your home is private and people should not have the same expectation as when walking into a retail establishment. But if you had me over to your house for one of your Tupperware parties and insisted I give you my ID, money and other items in my wallet, I’d tell you to go fuck yourself and walk away too. Muddy shoes and all.
Thirdly, I can be sure that when I give Rogers my money, they use some of that money to pay their employees and the manager that set up the idiotic policy to leave bags at the counter. I am a business owner and that is a fairly safe assumption based on experience. Maybe you know something different about Rogers. Like that they get their money from oil investments and the money their customers pay is laundered and sent to terrorist organizations overseas. Like I said, I’m a business owner so I use the money my clients pay me to pay my employees wages but clearly you went to some fancy business school that taught you a different “business model” that the rest of the country is not aware of. Maybe you should apply to Rogers as a business consultant to set them straight.
Lastly, you’ll notice that the date of this post is Sept. 20 2005. I’m happy to report that the Rogers video at that location was downsized so that they only offer cell phones now. Could this have had something to do with their unwelcoming assigning policies?
And there is one more question I didn’t ask in the article. If I had left my bag with their minimum wage slave and he/she stole my credit card and money, would Rogers fork over any of the damages? Oh no wait. According to you their head office says it’s not their policy so they’d just wash their hands of it. Though who knows what their policy was in 2005. Thanks for looking into it 5 years after the fact. Great insight. I appreciate the legwork you did on their behalf. Of course you’re probably paid to write that kind of propaganda on these posts so maybe you did actually talk to head office…

I’ve pretty much heard all the same about Rogers in the above comments…unfortunately its all true! Their Rates are ridiculous, their Service Sucks and they’ll cut your service, even before you get their overly expensive Bill! Wife and I couldn’t take it anymore! The U.S.Roaming Charges were out of this World! Our Contract for the Service was 3 Years…we did not want to violate the Contract agreement! So we knocked the Phone back to Local Calls only. Waited until the Contract Term ended…then we cancelled the Service! Low and behold…they tried to tell us to buy their Internet,TV and Cellular Bundles or lose all Services…including the Internet and TV??? Plus…Charge us the Breach of Contract! Funny? I don’t recall having any 3 Year agreements on our Internet and TV or Home Phone Services…just the Cellular Package only! They then told us that we would have to Pay them a Fee to re-connect a Service we no longer have…in order to cancel our so-called 3 Year Contract? Hello? 3 1/2 years after the end of the so-called Contract!!! Not to mention the threat of our TV,Homephone and Internet Service going up Significantly! So Wifey and I conveniently got rid of Rogers altogether…and We’ve never been happier!!! Suggestion to Readers…if you’ve got a Friend or Family Member in the USA and/or You frequently go there like I do-I’m a Longhaul Trucker. Asked to borrow their Zipcode…and get yourself a Verizon Wireless NATIONWIDE CANADA PLUS Package! I get 1500 Text and Pic Messages 1000 Anytime Minutes, 1000 Weekend and Night Minutes,Verizon to Verizon(No Charge) Interactive Messaging etc. I don’t recommend using the Internet services outside of the USA. Otherwise they are Helpful and my Service works virtually everywhere I go…even in the Sub-Arctic Range!!! My costs are about $120 to $140 a Month average. Even with the exchange on the U.S. Dollar,it has been worth every Solitary Penny…and I can Talk more with my Children and Wife now!!! Which is Important when you are away from Home 3 to 6 weeks at a time! I can pay my Bill Online…and Verizon will give you ample enough time to pay your Bill, before they even consider cutting your Service OFF! Unlike Rogers…who’ll cut you off. Even before you’ve got a Billing Statement! As a Symbolic Gesture to Rogers…I took my Old Rogers Phone Up North during the Hunting Season. I nailed it to a dead tree stump…and Shot It to dust with a 30.06 Rifle!!! I was going to Mail them a Photo of their Cellular Execution, but decided against it? If Rogers “Sense of Humour” is anything like their Service…IT SUCKS!!! And I didn’t want the Repercussions for it?!!! Can’t wait for their Monopoly to end…when the Gang at the CRTC wakes up,and allows the Outside Providers(like Verizon) to COMPETE in the Canadian Marketplace!!! I’ll be Partying like “No Tommorrow” when Rogers goes through the Floor Boards! My Wife’s Purse, and My Wallet…are now alot Fatter without them. Period!!! Thx. for your time
January 7th, 2010 at 10:01 pm
i just recently switch my wife and my plan to the family plan and without even warning me they renewed my contract my 3 year contract. before i used to pay 287 or so including my internet home phone tv and wireless now some how i have to pay 412 for 3 years because they renewed it. i pay 237ish for wireless alone. hopefully a talk with them will straiten things out
February 20th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
My wife and I parted ways. On April 4 last year we went to get sign papers at their outlet to take responsability for our own phones.10 months later they are still trying to bill me for her phone in spited of many many repeated calls to their “customer service” HA HA number. I finally told them I am not paying a further penny to those idiots till I get all outstanding bills re issued to me for my phone only. They say its not my postal code on the accounts. I said ya its probably the ex’s cause she has been calling to get this straighted out too. Obviously they have my postal code cause they can keep sending me bills. The reason they bought the rogers centre is cause its the only place big enough to fit their incompatance. The reason the roof opens is cause its the only way they can figure out which way is up. They will probably sic a collection agency on me and blow my credit rating. Theres guys will in that way extort money from me. For all of you its better to use 2 tin cans and some string to communicate than get involved with Rogers.
March 18th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Rogers sucks because I called up to order a new phone and continue with them on a 3 year contact when the guy on the other end of the phone decided to cancel my old customer account which resulted in me loosing my phone number. So I am left with no phone service until my new iphone arrives (god only knows how long that will take) plus I have lost the phone number I have had for 10 years and everyone knows. !!!! Total disarray and stupidity. I am waiting for customer service to call me back – I will likely be waiting a long time so if I ever do speak to anyone again I will let them know that I will be doing business with telus.
May 3rd, 2010 at 9:26 pm
I can’t believe this but I went to get a credit card at a local furniture store and found out that Rogers had reported a collection claim on my credit report. The bill was for 231.85 which was way more than I could account for. I tried calling these morons to find out what it was for only to speak to 5 different people who were so unbelievably incompetent, it would make your head spin. They told me there was a charge for unreturned equipment and because my account was deliquent even though I canceled my account with the required 30 days notice and returned my equipment to the local Rogers store. So because of their stellar level of incompetence and utter disorganization, my credit rating has been damaged and I have no recourse. Well Rogers assholes, I’m full willing to have my credit rating damaged and I’m now a telephone installer in New Brunswick and I will do my absolute best to take away even more of your customers than I do now. I will tell every person I see about how you screwed me and this will be my main subject of conversation. My credit is perfect other than your piece of shit claim and it will dissappear soon enough. In the meantime, please suck my ass and call it candy. You are the worst company ever and I hope and pray that you all end up in the same situation that you left me in. If they’re not hooking up elderly paople in Saint John with out them knowing, they’re screwing hard working Canadian’s credit ratings as revenge for changing to a good company. Fuck you Rogers.
May 3rd, 2010 at 9:54 pm
At Rogers, we’re not happy unless you’re not happy.
May 10th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
Roger charged me and my girlfriend 983.36 just got the bill in today which has been the only bill in months we looked at are last bill which was only 316.00 like wtf is wrong with this here
June 2nd, 2010 at 12:07 pm
Rogers is a mafia company. They will rip you off and what a stupid way to do business. Why do they do it anyhow? Because they are buying up the other companies. They bought Fido? I will not sign up with Fido either. In fact we never needed cell phones before. We are just brainwashed to think they are a better thing to have. I won’t get a cell phone. Been doing fine without those “cancer causing” gadgets.
They don’t keep their end of the contract and bill you even though you have no service and keep billing you after you’ve been gone for years.
June 13th, 2010 at 9:47 am
FUCK ROGERS. I HOPE THEY WILL SPEND THEY MONEY TO TREAT THEIR CANCERS
July 8th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
Wow! Rogers are crooks! I’ve had so many billing errors – where to begin. Stay away! Stay far away!!!!!!!!
